Back to school!

We are slowly adjusting to our new routine! Every morning, we load up and head to the bus stop. Emmy has to be confined to the stroller or she will try to get on the bus (or eat everyone's lunch by ransacking their lunch boxes!). G also likes to ride his scooter before the bus arrives! So far, he's been excited each day to head to kindergarten!

We were able to take him lunch a couple of times - even Mi-Maw surprised this sweet boy!

This girl. She's obsessed with clothing and took my shirt to the bus stop one day.

Then, she is so excited to see her bubba at the end of the day!

After the first busy week of school, I was able to sneak away to Austin to surprise my friends! Amy did not know her husband and I had planned a weekend getaway for her birthday! And, I was able to surprise everyone with Amanda who flew in from Nashville! It was so hard to lie, but I loved seeing everyone so excited!

Happy birthday, Amy K!

And, we celebrated sweet Page and her babies! We can't wait for November to meet little Caroline and William!

But first, let me take a selfie....

We had an amazing time! How could you not after 25 years of friendship?? I am beyond blessed to still have these girls in my life. Love you all!

Kindergarten!

My baby is in kindergarten! I have been anxious about sending this little boy to school. I am SO happy he has been nothing but excited - even counting down the days! We had Meet the Teacher a few days before school started, and he met Ms. Fichtel, his new classmates, and practiced getting off/on a bus (my biggest fear). Here is our big boy....

And then I blinked, and he was starting kindergarten. He was beyond excited!

When my friend Kristin's little boy (Reed) started kindergarten, our other friend Jennifer came over to write chalk messages to him on the way to the bus stop. I remember seeing that and just bawling because it goes so fast. So guess what they did for Griffin? And.... HE LOVED IT SO MUCH! What a special treat on such a special day....

How sweet/sad is this picture? She sure misses her Bubba. Me too.

I still CANNOT believe he rides a bus. I lost it when he got on. Then, we followed it :)

See that happy face??

Here are my crazy-mom-following-the-bus photos!

We met G at school and walked him to his class. I cannot stress how happy he was. My heart was beating a mile a minute. I just wanted him to be happy and to have the best day.

The PTO had coffee for the moms and then we were able to see the kindergartners practice the cafeteria routine. I had to make myself leave. I just wanted him to be okay. And you know what?

He came home running to tell me how happy he was. And that made me beyond happy. (PLUS - cousin Lexi was there to greet him!)

There are tears behind those sunglasses. He's home, he's smiling, and he loves kindergarten.

Summer Photo Dump - Part VI

The final summer post! Last summer, I was pregnant with Emmy so we didn't do much at all. I guess we made up for it this summer :)

Griffin had a baseball game on his bucket list, so we went on a mommy/son date to see the Astros! We had fun running around the kids zone, eating snow cones, and watching some b-ball!

Hot mess (aka Emmy) had donuts on her birthday and later found some watermelon rinds in the trash and went to town!

Big brother thought there needed to be some excitement on his sister's birthday, so he lost his 2nd tooth! Birthdays and the Tooth Fairy - what a fun way to celebrate August 15, 2014!

Playdates with Kiki also made the bucket list - we took a trip to the candy store so the big 1st grader and kindergartner could load up on some sugar!

And we did this A LOT this summer....

A day date with Daddy was checked off the list too!

And G asked if we could switch the beach for a day at the Aquarium so we did! Fun day for everyone!

There have been a few times this summer where we couldn't do one thing or had to leave early because Emmy needed a nap or was crazy (she pretty much requires chasing all day long). So G asked if he and Daddy could have a boys weekend in Stephenville. It was just what he needed - being a boy outside in the country with his cousins! It was made extra special that Lexi and Uncle Tanner made the trip with them!

Good quality cousin time with Gunner, Gavin, Griffin, and Lexi!

Phew - we made it! Completing our bucket list required a parents night out! We had a great time at a local wine bar with friends - it was much needed. Plus, I needed something to keep my mind off the first day of school! Pics of that big day coming soon!

Farewell, Summer 2014 - you were a good one!
